Performance of Urban Autism. Theatre Zgoda searching for the absurd:

ZGODA (Consent) theatre was established in 2006 in Bemowo Culture Center ( within which it is active till this day). Its director is Agata Adamek and Zbyszek Gozdecki musician. We can describe this theatre as a theatre from beyond the frontier, beyond the edge because it goes beyond stereotypes, which we have in our head about this form of art.
Actors of this theatre are adults with an experience of mental diseases. However, it is not a theatre of so called disabled, we try to avoid this kind of names, because in our belief it is stigmatizing. Sometimes our plays are also joined by professional actors- friends and advocates of theatre ZGODA.
Our goal is not therapy or any other for of treatment by art. We want to include actors- just the way they are- to actors’ community. One might say that for ordinary actor performing in theatre is a therapy and the same kind of therapy is present in our group.
Idea of theatre artists is not any form of therapy or treatment of actors through art.
„I am anxious to focus on the integration into society of artists-actors, such as we found, […] we push therapeutic issues to the background, present mainly inspiring aesthetic and intellectual exploration, creating an “art of the border”, which is challenge for modern audiences” – says director of theatre.
How does ZGODA work?
The whole group is working on the show. The work is collective and the director gives it the shape. Each scene is discussed, debated with the actors. We all want to be sure that everyone will have the space to express themselves and what the audience wants to transfer. Giving a voice to the actors, allowing them to decide and the choice is an idea associated with the practice of „community arts”.
Group seeks various forms of communication using sound, visualization, light, colour.
Few words. A lot of gestures and symbols that carry mostly content than words.

What are the dreams of ZGODA Theatre?
ZGODA Theatre aims to be able to charge fees for their performances – that his actors could get a fair price for their work. Dream situation would be to open their own independent scene – what would develop wings everyone involved in the project. It would be a place where the „art of the border” could evaluate and engage more and more artists (thus creating the possibility of inclusion of people from the circle of social exclusion in society on a larger scale).
How can we support the activities of the Theatre ZGODA? Theatre is looking for patrons who want to support the work of the theatre, a place where he could work (for example, a suitable room). TECHNICAL RIDER
SPACE: intimate theatre room, black curtains
LIGHTNING; – 8 upper headlamps 100W,
2 lower headlamps 1000W ,
– connection to multimedia projector,
-light consoles connected to steerage by long wire
STEREO SOUND SYSTEM:
– sound mixing console (8 channels)/amp/stereo speakers,
– 1 dynamic microphone connected through reverb/echo DSP effect.
STAGE PROPS: – 6 black chairs,
– little round table
WARDROBE; 2 rooms (6 people).
Basic equipment: chairs, tables, mirrors, hot and cold beverages
AMOUNT OF PEOPLE: 6 actors (3 women 3 men)director, musician, driver and photographer.
TIME OF REHEARSALS: 3 HOURS
TIME OD ASSEMBLY: 1 hour
TIME OF DISASSEMBLY: 1 hour
TRANSPORT OF SCENOGRAPHY:
a bus ( cost counted according to km: Warsaw – place of performance – Warsaw). 10 people bus.
ACCOMODATION: if it is needed twin rooms with bathroom for ten people
STAGE PLAN:* Technical rider is optimal and will be in every case adjusted to conditions in a place of performance.
